Poliquin’s Statement On The Discharge Petition To Reauthorize The Export-Import Bank

October 26, 2015
Press Release

WASHINGTON – Maine’s Second District Congressman, Bruce Poliquin, released the following statement in regard to the discharge petition to reauthorize the Export-Import Bank:

“I will be voting yes on reauthorizing the Export-Import Bank, with much needed reforms. These reforms will put the needs of the taxpayers before those of foreign borrowers.

“However, I’m not in favor of governing through the use of discharge petitions as it is not regular order. I believe we must have strong debates and allow Members of Congress to submit amendments to legislation.

“This is why I voted against the discharge petition. While I will be voting to reauthorize the Export-Import Bank, with much needed reforms, I will continue to push my reforms to help grow our economy while rooting out corruption.”
